Apart from you, we cannot do what God calls us to do.
2016 had many needs. Because of you:
2016 had many needs. Because of you:
- Women At Rest (WAR) is assisting a mom’s calling to minister within her inner-city neighborhood where she lives and where her daughter, Angel (16), was shot and killed. The ministry is called Angel’s Blessings, which provides some essential items needed for the children in her community (shoes, undergarments, personal hygiene supplies, backpacks. school supplies, and school uniforms)
- WAR donated gas money for a Board member’s husband to drive the donations of coats to victims of Hurricane Matthew in Virginia
- Various gift cards were given for gas and food, enabling multiple ladies to get to work and provide meals for their families
- We sent two couples in crisis to marriage seminars
- A woman whose apartment was inundated with mold received a new bed once she moved to a new apartment
- We paid for a hotel for a family whose landlord would not fix a broken water main and the judge permitted the family to move out before their lease was up
- WAR assisted multiple families throughout the year with utility bills (water, gas, electric) that were threatening to be turned off and/or actually had been turned off
- Rescued families’ personal items from auction by paying their storage bills
- Rented moving trucks and physically assisted with moving a few families to safer dwellings
- Assisted with health and medical needs of ladies (shower chair, cane, walker, recliner for woman with severe respiratory issues, as well as prescriptions that were unaffordable)
- Paid cell phone bills for women volunteering to assist those in need
- Sent a senior to prom and paid for her graduation expenses
- Bought a washing machine and dryer for a family of 10, and a washer for a grandmother assisting her daughter and grandchildren after a car accident
- Paid for homeowner’s insurance for a single mom with three teen-aged boys
- Towing and brake work on a family’s only vehicle
- After living with grandparents for quite some time, two children were returning to live with their mom, and WAR provided the gift of two twin beds and linens
- When a woman was in a car accident and couldn’t work, WAR assisted with paying her mortgage, which was in arrears, and caught her up
- At the Lord’s prompting, WAR bought a gift card for a man in line at Wal-Mart who was telling the cashier about his financial trials
- A woman at Publix with her child in the cart had a card that kept declining, and she left to go try and get another method of payment, WAR sent the bagboy out to get her and paid for her groceries
- We provided an outfit and shoes for a young woman to attend a job interview. Praise God, she got the job!
- WAR paid the deductible for a single mom with three children when her car needed repairs from a hit & run accident
- A family received assistance with their loving, special needs son
- WAR purchased a rocking chair to a young, new mom who had just lost her mom to cancer
- A young couple in need and expecting their first child received financial assistance
- WAR gave financial gifts to the family of a veteran with PTSD and a traumatic brain injury as well as severe life threatening internal injuries
- Throughout the year, we've given to a veteran in need
- International phone cards were given to a mom who hasn’t heard her son’s voice since last summer (their only communication had been via text). This is his first Christmas away from home
- Christmas was made possible by giving gift cards to many of our inner-city families
- We provided both food and Christmas gifts to a lady whose husband lives in a VA Nursing home
- WAR ministered to a family whose mom and dad are in prison and the elderly grandmother lives with the children. We were able to turn their water back on, assist with housing (to prevent their eviction), provide food, clothes, school needs and then one of our leaders in training, who leads Angel's Blessings, has personally ministered to this family's children on a regular basis and hosted a Christmas Celebration of Jesus' Birthday for those children and all the other children she's ministered to in the inner city.
